About Shiekh
Hatem Farid Alwaer
Imam Hatem was born in Cairo in 1974, Egypt. He attended the world-renowned Al-Azhar University and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the School of Sharia (Islamic Law/Jurisprudence) and a Bachelor of Education Degree from the School of Education at AlAzhar. He also earned a Masters of Arts in Mental Health from Alexandria University in Egypt.
Alhamdu LILLAAH, he holds several Ijaazaat (Scholarly Licenses & Permissions) in The Holy Qur’aan from Eminent Scholars of our era including the highest Ijaazah in the Qur’aanic
Recitation of Hafs through Asem. He attained many Ijaazaat in Hadeeth as well (The Prophetic Narration) in the six-major books of Hadeeth and other books, from Grand Shuyookh and Scholars of our time.
His passion and forte is to serve Muslims through active engagement in Imaamat, teaching Qur’aan to students of all ages, lecturing on Islamic Law and mental health & development, conducting various programs/Halqahs catered to the various segments of our Community, mentoring at-risk Youth, pre-marital and post-marital counseling, and coaching Families and Youth. He pays special attention to Tarbiyah, conflict resolution, and enjoys organizing and being a key part of in-state and out-of-state Youth camps.
By the Grace of ALLAAH, he’s been serving as an Imam and Resident Scholar for many years both in Egypt and here in the US. Allah enabled him to have a beautiful method of Quran recitation with a proper Tajweed.
During his time in Egypt, he was chosen to lead the Taraweeh Prayers at Masjid Al-Qaa’ed Ibrahim, one of the largest and most prominent Masaajid in Alexandria, Egypt. He attracted an unprecedented million Musallees (Perishoners) to come and pray Taraweeh at that Masjid and was dubbed as the Imam of the Prayer of the millions! He was also chosen to be the recipient of the 2017 award of one of the most influential people among the Youth in Alexandria, Egypt.
